In today’s highly specialized world, web design is no exception. Many companies claiming to offer "one-stop solutions" are merely coordinators outsourcing different tasks to specialized teams. Building a website involves multiple key aspects:
1. Domain Registration
A domain name is the foundation of a website, much like a water supply system’s main source—without it, no other service can function. One of the most well-known domain registrars is GoDaddy, commonly used by businesses to register and manage their domains.
However, some clients purchase their own domains but forget to renew them, leading to website downtime or even the risk of losing their domain to competitors. Before launching a website, it is crucial to clarify who is responsible for domain management and renewal to avoid unnecessary losses.
2. Web Design & Hosting
Once the domain is secured, the next step is building and hosting the website. This involves two main parts:
Many web design companies also provide hosting services. In our case, we offer a custom-built website management system, allowing clients to manage their websites effortlessly. However, some design firms only provide design files, requiring clients to find separate hosting services.
3. Email Services
While email and websites are related, they are separate specialized services. Many businesses prefer custom domain emails (e.g., info@yourcompany.com) for a professional image. However, for better reliability and spam protection, we recommend Google Workspace (Gmail for Business).
In reality, many companies now use Gmail directly because it is free, flexible, and has excellent spam filtering. Unless there is a specific business need, Gmail alone is often sufficient.
When setting up a website, businesses must clearly understand their service providers’ roles to avoid confusion. For example, we once had a client who purchased their own domain but mistakenly assumed we were managing it. As a result, they forgot to renew it, nearly losing their domain.
To ensure smooth website operation, we recommend:
✔ Clarifying each provider’s role (domain, design, hosting, email)
✔ Keeping track of essential account details (domain registration, hosting services)
✔ Regularly checking and renewing necessary services
By preparing in advance, you can ensure your website remains stable and avoid business disruptions due to overlooked details!
